>No, GOG (the digital video game storefront) is not an American company. It is a Polish company headquartered in Warsaw, Poland. i think ill buy gothic from gog instead
but doesnt steam have that stuff to make games run on linux? how does it work?
it used to be a cdpr thing but they spun it off. the reason to buy on gog is no drm actually.
>>143145 are you talking the original or the remake? wine can probably handle the original just fine if you can track down whatever dlls it asks for in error messages
>>143152 of course the original>wine>probably nyeah sorry but i know this linux probably stuff. ends with me changing some config files for 14 hours. doesnt steam have proton? is it built-in? ive never used steam >>143147 a what thing? spun it off? a what? elaborate. is it still polish?
>>143159 a cd projekt red store, used to be. i don't knoe who owns it now.
>>143161 AI says>GOG is owned by Michał Kiciński, one of the co-founders of CD Projekt. He acquired 100% of the platform from CD Projekt for PLN 90.7 million (approximately $25.2 million)
>>143161 i wish i were rich and not dying from malnutrition and bad living circumstances
i could probably buy my way out of schizophrenia too starting with access to a doctor
>>143162 there you have it
ye life on your own kake feels very good you have everything set just keep on executing
what about that steam proton thing? perhaps its easier to google this but i thought since a lot of people use steam and play games i could just ask
>just figuring this out>assuming it was an american company you just make yourself look more retarded everyday
sorry boland i might stick to steam because >Be aware, that using Proton outside of Steam is explicitly unsupported and discouraged by both Valve and GloriousEggroll. but ill only spend like 20€ on there ever so i think its ok
>>143178 fuck poland
LMAOh just download the DRM free GOG version from somewhere r u restarted?????
>>143183 not downloading some illegal warez on that computer gog and steam both sell for $5 but i guess steam has the better support just thing is i actually boycott american gombanies
>>143159 you could also just buy an old pos used machine from some boomer and wipe/replace the HD and install XP on it and run it airgapped. original gothic is over 20 years old right? almost certainly no always-online drm bullshit to bother with
>>143184 GOG releases DRM free installers by itself, moron These """warez""" releases are just copies of that
>>143193 explain how drm plays a role here im worried about making it run >>143188 nah fuck it but oh if it were 20 years ago again
the computer room smells so bad like 20 years of dog piss
the windows is open and theres draft air and yet, when i come in here it reeks of dog
cant believe i slept in this shithole for 2 years or so
fugg i cant bring myself to give steam money and data
ok I need to buy a paysafecard in town so I can pay this cancer company anonymously not giving them my klarna or anything
>>143213
>>143214
>>143213 I feel like you're unnecessarily worried about linux compatibility issues. That said, you could always try before you buy https://gog.squid.wtf/game/gothic
>>143218 thx but its fine yes it probably runs on wine and whatever just wanna go the easiest way with bestest performance must go to town first and i wish i meant that in a sexual way but i dont i literally mean going to town pretty much the opposite of sexual
>>143218 that reminds me i tried to run hitman on wine before and it was shit, so..
>>143223 hardly a good comparison given the difference it age of the games though
>>143225 5 months difference
>>143227 oh, I looked at the one simply called "Hitman" assuming it was the original and it said 2017
i like gog more because no useless updating everytime when opening steam. theres other stuff too but thats the most crucial, the updating shiet can be really ass especially if shitty computer. currently better so its not that bad, but bad is still bad when ceo routines are scheduled by minutes.
>>143321 what updates
>>143323 updating the application itself (steamapp), also then there is the games which updates. also the forced system of friendslist on steam. also you cant play the heckin games you bought from steam without having the app opened (cant into offline gaming). in gog nothing like that
>>143327>cant into offline gaming for reals?
>Yes, you can absolutely play Steam games without an internet connection. Most single-player titles can be played completely offline, but you must first enable Offline Mode in the Steam client while you are still connected to the internet i c
>>143340 nice to know, *switching it currently*. but shit like that is evil still
>>143327 I very much dislike not being able to run an exe without having steam open for a free-to-play especially
Steam is like that one american company that is actually not evil and good. They are the only thing that are keeping ads not appearing every 5 seconds to your singleplayer games plus gabe lives in new zealand now and kind of hates other american companies he was just born there, they arent publically traded company ether and the son plans to keep it fair once gabe dies. dont be rartarded
literally every single big corp tries to lawsuit Steam into submission every week. Just because they dont want to fuck over the customer for profits
plus they are major driving factor in adopting linux as the mainstream gaming for the future and are working heavily to improve proton/wine
>>143353>Steam is like that one american company that is actually not evil and good opinion discarded
>>143327>updating the application itself how is that a problem lol, doesn't really happen that often and the updates are small>games which updates again, how is that a problem? you are complaining about getting a new update for a game asap? you can also just disable auto updates...>forced system of friendslist on steam you can sign out of the friend thing entirely, or go invisible or not add anyone to your flist>cant into offline gaming also completely wrong, there is a literal offline mode
>>143393 Son, in Huberstrealm EVERYTHING is a problem
>>143393 now compare that autism to gog. gog is like god, only one letter different.
